To deeply promote the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, continuously improve the quality of talent development, and further advance the in-depth development of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in the Jiangxi region, the “National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest Jiangxi Region Working Seminar” was grandly held at Nanchang University’s Qianhu Campus on March 14. The seminar was hosted by the Jiangxi Mathematical Society and organized by the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, Nanchang University. The event specially invited Professor She Zikun of Beihang University, a council member of the Chinese Mathematical Society and head of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest Working Group; Academician Cao Jinde of Southeast University; and Professor Li Jicheng, a national-level distinguished teacher at Xi’an Jiaotong University, who provided guidance. Attendees included Professor Dong Qiuxian, president of the Jiangxi Mathematical Society and head of the department at the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, Nanchang University; Professor Huang Xianjiu, secretary-general of the Jiangxi Mathematical Society; and more than 40 competition instructors from various universities across the province. The meeting was chaired by Professor Huang Xianjiu.

Professor Dong Qiuxian extended a warm welcome to the visiting experts and, from the perspectives of discipline construction, faculty, and talent cultivation, introduced the recent development achievements of the school. Professor Huang Xianjiu systematically reviewed the overall situation of Jiangxi Province’s participation in the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest over the past three years, focusing on the organization and implementation of the contest, work outcomes and highlights, and problems and reflections. Ms. Yu Lilan from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and Professor Tao Yongqian from Nanchang University, drawing on their respective institutions’ practices, shared distinctive approaches and valuable experiences in areas such as the deep integration of contest training with courses like Advanced Mathematics and Mathematical Analysis, and the role of the contest in promoting students’ comprehensive quality and employability, including organizational approaches and training methods.During the conference, Professor She Zikun and the working group members highly evaluated the efforts and results shown by the Jiangxi region in organizing the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest, and offered constructive opinions on the systematic pre-contest training and the improvement of participation incentive policies. He also engaged in in-depth exchanges with attending teachers on how to further mobilize, train, and guide students to participate, promote reform of mathematics curriculum teaching, and raise students’ contest performance and overall abilities.

In the afternoon of March 14, Professors Cao Jinde, Li Jicheng, and She Zikun delivered special academic reports titled “Swarm Intelligence Networks and Mathematics,” “Transformations in Teaching and Learning in the AI Era,” and “Development and Exploration of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest,” respectively. The three talks examined, from the angles of the frontier integration of swarm intelligence networks and mathematics, the transformation of teaching methods in the context of artificial intelligence, and the evolution and future development directions of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest, the educational path of “learning through competition, teaching through competition,” enriching the connotations and practical significance of university mathematics competitions.

This seminar provided an efficient and in-depth exchange platform for Jiangxi region universities, not only strengthening communication and collaboration among provincial universities in the field of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest, but also injecting new momentum to further enhance the organizational level and educational effectiveness of the contest in Jiangxi Province.
